Oahu’s Micronesian Youth Summit (MYS) brings together Micronesian youth on Oahu for their voices to be heard and for them to explore their strength, potentials and futures. Organized by a planning committee comprising of We Are Oceania (WAO) staff and partners along with UH’s Micronesia Connections and other community leaders, MYS rests on three pillars essential to navigating success: College Readiness, Career Readiness and Community Readiness. Students are able to attend workshops, forums, discussions, and other activities. Just as important, it allows Micronesians to talk about our history and culture. Our program is geared towards middle and high school aged students, yet all are welcome to participate!

Micronesian Youth Summit 2015
The first Oahu-based Micronesian Youth Summit focused on bringing Micronesian college students together from around the State to talk story and unite around common goals. Hosted at the Honolulu Museum of Art School on Sunday, March 29, 2015 as part of the Celebrate Micronesia festival, the Navigating Success: Micronesian College Student Summit attracted over 80 delegates from various colleges in Hawaii including students, faculty, staff, and Micronesian community leaders.
- Goal 1: To discuss ways to navigate success in higher education without sacrificing our culture and identity.
- Goal 2: To share best practices and formulate some state-wide action plans of outreach efforts to the local high schools to help prepare Micronesian youth in Hawaii to succeed in college, career, and community.
